Libby
Meet...
One of the sweetest souls I've ever had the honor to photograph! Libby is incredibly beautiful, inside and out! I met her and her mom, Emma, in Holly, Michigan for our session together. From the moment I met them I knew we were going to have an amazing session together!
Libby is a 2023 Senior at Milford High School located in Michigan. Some of her after school activities include dance - which happens to be one of my favorite genre's to photograph. When I asked her what she'd like to do after high school, she told me she'd love to work with children! :)
How we got started...
Its very, very natural for my clients to feel somewhat nervous at the beginning of their shoot - I mean....who wants to stare at a camera and smile and pose for the next two hours? Nerve-wracking! But it's my job to make sure my clients', especially my Senior's, feel comfortable with me. I will never ever let you stand there and pose yourself! It's my job to guide you and to pose you in ways that look, and most importantly, feel natural.
Libby was a natural, though. It takes a good 15-20 mins to really warm up to a camera but she was giving me the most beautiful smiles right from the get-go!
We started out in downtown Holly, Michigan. An incredibly beautiful little town with charm and plenty of history. Their storefronts are well-kept and beautifully maintainted. I even love the overgrown vines trailing up the doors and buildings. Anyone who knows me knows how much I love a natural, rustic background! Here are a few of the images we got in town....
How it was going...
I like to let my Senior's choose a couple of different locations during their session. I like to do a town, and then head off to a more natural, overgrown, weedy area for some serious fairtale, dreamy, artistic photo's (A lot of times you'll hear me ooooh and ahhhhh behind the camera in these locations)
I took Libby to Seven Lakes State Park, also located in Holly, MI. for our 2nd location. It was late August and there were some seriously gorgeous Goldenrod and other "weeds" in full bloom! (if I drag you out to a location like this, be sure to take some allergy meds, haha!)
I grabbed my blanket and chair and we trudged through the weeds (I asked Libby to spot any snakes for me...because if I spotted one I was gonna have to be done for the day...lol) Thankfully she didn't see any and we continued our session. :)
At this point Libby was a pro in front of the camera. She was comfortable and carefree and we proceeded to pose and smile....and I proceeded to get even more excited after every shot because they were coming out so incredibly beautiful.
At one point I had Libby lay on a blanket in the, lets call it, "A Meadow". I grabbed some flowers and started placing them in her hair. Libby yelled at her mom, "Mom! She's putting flowers in my hair!" lol, I was taking this whole fairytale meadow thing VERY seriously. Anyone that works with me will quikly learn that I LOVE using flowers at least once in every shoot! Its a special touch of mine :)
These photo's speak for themselves!!!
How it ended...
We had time for one more location with our time together. And since Libby is a dancer at Milford Dance Academy, I really, really wanted to incorporate that into her Senior gallery. I took her to Lakeside Memorial Park (Also located in Holly, MI,) for an incredibly gorgeous sunset shoot! And boy did that sunset NOT disappoint! I mean, look how gorgeous she is out on the water!!!
In conclusion
Libby, her mom and I spent a little more than 2 hours together. And during that time, they both felt like family. We laughed, we joked, we giggled (a lot) - and I think we accomplished capturing the heart of Libby. We hugged and left our session, and I immediately got home and started pouring over her images...oooh'ing and ahhh'ing, of course.
I know Libby's family is incredibly proud and supportive of her. And I know that just by the small amount of time I got to know her, she's going to do incredibly wonderful things!
Want to book a session with me?
I'd love to work with you!
