So you've inquired (or you're ready to inquire) about your senior session! But you haven't the faintest idea where to choose your location(s). I'm here to help!

Maybe you've been dreaming about this day your whole high school journey, or maybe it snuck up on you. Choosing your location is just as important as choosing your outfits! I'm going to walk you through some of my favorite locations and why they might matter to you...

Let's start with the most popular...think carefree and open spaces with lots of tall grasses, flowers, winding roads and fun trees. These locations also offer spectacular sunsets and diffused lighting. A few of my favorite locations are: Seven Lakes State Park (Holly, MI.), For-Mar Nature Preserve and Arboretum (Burton, MI.) and Kensington Metro Park (Milford, MI.) These parks are my most used because there is so many different backdrops to choose from. Personal preference is based on your location! There are many other small park and river locations I like to use, too, so if none of these suit you, please ask!

I love Seven Lakes State Park for its winding roads, beautiful lakes, and the goldenrod field that arrives in late Summer/Early Fall. Kensington has gorgeous flower fields in late Spring - late Summer, and For-Mar offers stunning sunsets with a variety of tall grasses and flower fields from early Summer - early Fall. (My personal favorite location.)

I also have a collection of vintage chairs and settee's that I like to lug around and use as props at these locations!

There is a fee to enter two of these parks: Kensington charges $10 per vehicle if you do not live in Oakland County or have a Metro Park Pass. Seven Lakes charges $14 per vehicle if you do not have a state park pass on your license plate. For-Mar is free.

There are two local beach location that I adore - they offer STUNNING sunsets and clean sand with wide open space! Maple and Martindale Beaches, located in Kensington Metro Park in Milford, MI. The photos speak for themselves! Although I cannot promise a sunset, these are gorgeous, clean beaches. There is a fee to enter this park if you do not have a park pass. The rate is currently $10 per vehicle.

There are a few favorite beloved towns that I love to use for their pretty storefronts, and quiet charm. Downtown Fenton, Downtown Holly, and Downtown Milford. These towns are full of pretty architecture and interesting structures. I use them with 90% of my high school seniors looking for that classically beautiful backdrop. If you like more drama with fun graffiti walls and parking structures - Downtown Flint is a must! A lot of my seniors choose a town & field as part of their locations. You can't go wrong with any of them! Other small towns and local cities like Birmingham, Ann Arbor and Detroit are not exempt from this list, I just wanted to showcase to you my most used ones!

Of course, a Senior Session wouldn't be complete without showing off your extracurriculars! Each location is unique to the school, but these are an example of the range of sports you can choose to photograph in!

Sharp Farm - Located in Swartz Creek, MI. Valerie has created the ultimate photo venue. There is no shortage of backdrops - a victorian greenhouse, a gorgeous shed, multiple old trucks and even cows and gorgeous fields! This location is currently $85 per hour.

Terraces Flower Farm - Located in Milford, MI. Isabel has the most gorgeous blooms from May-October! I especially love her cute little shed. This location is currently $50 per hour.

La Fleur Decor - Located in Hadley, MI. Kelly has the cutest piece of property and business! Her location boasts many flowers and outdoor sheds - including an adorable hippie shed. I love using her location because it's quiet and there is so much to work with! This location is currently $50 per hour.
